Clefira Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 25, 2026 · Clefira v1.0.0
1. Information we collect
Clefira collects only the information you provide while using the app:
- Profile information: display name and optional skill level.
- Practice activity: sessions, scores, weak items, time spent, streaks, and progress.
- Teacher Edition student data: student names, lesson notes, assignments, repertoire, and progress information entered by the teacher.
2. Where your data is stored
- Local by default: data lives on your device under the user data folder. On Windows this is typically
%APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Clefira\. - Cloud sync is opt-in: if enabled, data is transmitted over TLS and stored under the signed-in account with the configured cloud provider.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
- We do not include advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect telemetry or analytics events without explicit opt-in.
- We do not access your microphone or MIDI device unless you explicitly enable those features.
4. Crash logs
If a fatal error occurs, Clefira may write a local crash log containing engine version, operating system information, and an error trace. These logs stay on your device unless you choose to share one for support.
5. Children's privacy
Clefira Student is positioned for students age 13+ and adult learners. Clefira Teacher may be used by music teachers in a studio setting. When a teacher records information about a student who is under the legal age of digital consent, the teacher is responsible for obtaining the required parental or guardian consent before entering that data.
6. Microphone and MIDI access
- Microphone: used only when a microphone-based feature is enabled. Audio is intended to be processed locally for gameplay and not recorded by default.
- MIDI: used only when MIDI keyboard input is enabled. MIDI input is processed for gameplay and not transmitted by default.
7. Your rights
- Export your data by copying the local user data folder.
- Delete your data by deleting the local user data folder.
- Sign out of cloud sync and request deletion of cloud-stored data if cloud sync is enabled.
- Request a copy or deletion of personal data held by Clefira where applicable law provides that right.
8. Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes should be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
